It is great to be able to conveniently sip hydration instead of bending down to unhook your bottle and return the bottle to a cage system.I attached a Camelback bite valve to the end of the straw. This keeps the liquid level up in the straw. I also view it as a safety modification. That plastic straw is placed to pierce my throat in a wreck. That added rubber stopper at the end gives me more confidence I won't end up with a bleeding neck or a punctured wind pipe. I do triathlons and getting out of the aero position to drink really slows me down since I have to reach down take a swig and put the water bottle back in the cage (either below or behind me). Now, all I have to do is tip the straw in my mouth and drink up. When the reservoir goes empty, I pull a water bottle out of one of the cages and use the quick fill top (the cut up neoprene cap). I find that by shoving the bottle's nozzle in their and squeezing the bottle about 4 times empties it completely into the reservoir. Great system.The only real problem with the kit is that the soft clear flexible tubing really smells bad. It also makes whatever you are drinking taste like the tubing. Absolutely horrible. They need to change whatever material they use to make it into something completely different. I usually throw away the clear tubing and cut a piece of clear tubing from my old CamelBak system that had too much tubing. That clear... I use it in combination with the large rubber bands that come with the bottle to really keep the movement of the bottle to a minimum. I was finding that the bottle would flop around a bit as I drank through the liquid which is annoying (and probably not the best from an aerodynamic standpoint I'd guess too).If you are into long-distance tri's, or a road biker that's not afraid of being called a Fred, get the bracket and bottle. |
