Continental 0118010 Grand Prix Triathlon-700 x 23 Black Tire with Black Chili is designed for the Ironman. Its Vectran Breaker anti-puncture belt withstands even sharp-edged volcano ash. With a “speedy” slick tread pattern and tightly woven carcass, it is optimized for consistent top speeds. Indicators in the tread show the wear rate of the tire and it has all the capability characteristics of the Grand Prix 4000 but is styled towards multi-sports athletes. With our Black Chili compound also being a feature of this tire, the Grand Prix Triathlon sports all the latest tire technology. The new Black Chili material incorporates rubber compound particles roughly ten times smaller than what is typically used in bicycle tires. This creates a denser rubber, without adding more material. Denser rubber increases a tires ability to conform to the road, while also increasing durability. The Black Chili compound is also more resistant to UV rays, which contribute to cracking and premature tire wear.
